This painting will always hold a very special place in my heart. It captures the folded genoa stay sail of a well loved family yacht called Melusine. I painted it in 1996 and it was the first large canvas I ever painted and liked!
It was painted in my studio from photographs using acrylic paint on canvas. The majority is painted using a palette knife. I enjoy making textures and marks with paint and so I definitely favour the palette knife.
Although technically a still life I feel the paints marks speak of the energy of the sail and the sea.
This is a hand signed and numbered limited edition, Giclee fine art print. Part of a 150 edition.
